FIELD GUIDE · AI SEO

What is AI SEO? A plain-language guide.

AI SEO can mean using AI to assist search engine optimisation, or improving how a business appears in AI-powered search experiences. The two overlap, but they describe different jobs. Understanding the distinction makes it easier to assess a service proposal.

best aircon service company in Petaling Jaya?

Several companies serve Petaling Jaya. One option offers same-week chemical wash with published prices from RM120 per unit and covers PJ, Subang and Shah Alam. When comparing, check warranty terms, response time and recent reviews.

Quick answer

AI SEO has two meanings: using AI to carry out SEO work (monitoring, analysis, drafting and reporting), and optimising a business to appear in AI-powered search such as Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT. Both still depend on people checking facts and approving changes.

Two meanings of the same phrase

When a Malaysian business owner hears "AI SEO", they usually hear one of two different offers. The first is AI-assisted SEO: using software, including language models, to do parts of the search engine optimisation work faster or more often. The second is optimising for AI search: making a business easier for AI-powered answers, such as Google AI Overviews, Gemini, ChatGPT or Perplexity, to understand, trust and cite.

The two overlap, but they are not the same job. The first is a delivery method. The second is a visibility goal. A proposal that uses AI to write fifty blog posts is doing the first, and may do nothing for the second. A proposal that cleans up your service pages, business details and structured data may help both, even if very little of the work is "AI" at all. Knowing which one you are buying is the first step to judging whether it is worth the money.

What AI is genuinely good at in SEO work

Most SEO hours are not spent on clever strategy. They go into checking, collecting and comparing: opening Google Search Console, exporting queries, crawling the site for broken links, checking titles against search terms and assembling a monthly report. Software handles this repetition well, and a language model adds a few useful abilities on top.

  • Reading large amounts of data quickly. A dental clinic in Petaling Jaya may receive impressions for hundreds of queries a month, in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese: "dentist PJ", "klinik gigi petaling jaya", "scaling gigi harga", "牙医 八打灵再也". Grouping those queries by intent (price, location, treatment, emergency) is tedious by hand and fast with AI.
  • Noticing change. A scheduled check can compare today's index coverage, titles and rankings with last week's and flag what moved, instead of waiting for a monthly review.
  • Drafting options. Alternative page titles, meta descriptions, FAQ answers and internal link suggestions can be produced in seconds, ready for a person to judge.
  • Explaining findings in plain language. A technical note such as "canonical points to a non-200 URL" can be turned into a sentence the owner understands and can act on.

Where AI still needs a person

AI outputs can be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong, and they are delivered with the same confidence either way. SEO work touches facts a business is accountable for: prices, opening hours, service areas, licences, guarantees and medical or financial claims. A model does not know that your workshop in Klang closes on Sundays, that you stopped offering a service last month, or that a particular claim would upset a regulator or a customer.

So the useful question is not "does this provider use AI?" but "where does a person check the work?" Human review should be a named step with a named reviewer. It should happen before anything changes on the live website, and there should be a check afterwards to confirm the change actually went live as approved. "Human-reviewed" in a headline means little if no one can tell you who reviews what, and when.

There is also judgement that data cannot supply: which customers are most profitable, which services you want more of, and what your brand should never say. Those decisions stay with the business.

AI search optimisation is built on normal SEO

Google's own guidance on AI features says the same foundational SEO practices apply, and that there are no special technical requirements or special schema for appearing in them. A page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Google Search with a snippet to be shown as a supporting link, and even then inclusion is not guaranteed. Other AI assistants have their own crawlers and sources, but they reward similar things: pages that can be crawled, clear and specific answers, consistent business facts, and a reputation that other sites confirm.

In practice that means the work for AI search looks familiar: fix crawl and index problems, make service pages answer the questions buyers actually ask, keep your name, address, phone number and hours identical across your website, Google Business Profile and directories, and use structured data that matches what is visible on the page. Our AEO, GEO and AI search guide covers how to observe AI answers without treating one screenshot as a ranking.

One task, traced from start to finish

The easiest way to understand AI SEO is to follow a single piece of work through it.

SampleA fictional aircon servicing company in Puchong
  1. Signal. Search Console shows the homepage receiving impressions for "aircon chemical wash puchong", while the dedicated chemical wash page receives almost none.
  2. Investigation. An agent checks the service page: its title says only "Services", it has no price information and only one internal link points to it, from the footer.
  3. Proposal. The agent drafts a new title and meta description, suggests two internal links from the homepage and the pricing page, and flags that the page mentions no service area.
  4. Human review. The owner corrects the price range (the draft had copied an old figure), adds Subang Jaya and Cyberjaya to the service areas and approves the change.
  5. Verification. After the update goes live, the system fetches the page to confirm the new title, links and copy are present.
  6. Observation. Over the following weeks, Search Console is checked to see which page Google shows for that query. The result is reported with its date range, whether it moved or not.

Notice what AI did and did not do. It found the mismatch and drafted the fix. A person supplied the facts and made the decision. And nobody promised a ranking.

How to judge an AI SEO proposal

When you compare quotes, ask each provider to walk you through one task from input to report, like the example above. Then ask:

  • Which data sources are connected: your Search Console and GA4, a crawler, live search results? Who owns those accounts?
  • How often do checks run, and what happens when access fails?
  • Which changes need your approval, and who implements them: you, your web developer or the provider?
  • What exactly is delivered each month: recommendations, approved edits or deployed and verified changes? These are different things.
  • How are results reported? Every number should carry its date range and source.
  • What is not included? New articles, redesigns and development are often quoted separately, and should be.

Be careful with any offer built on volume alone. Google's spam policies specifically address scaled content created mainly to manipulate rankings, whether by people or AI. Publishing hundreds of near-identical "service in [town]" pages for every town from Kangar to Kota Kinabalu is a risk, not a strategy.

When AI SEO is not the first thing you need

If the website cannot be crawled, loads slowly on a mobile connection, or does not clearly say what you sell and where, more AI-generated content will not fix it. A brand-new business with no website may get more from a complete Google Business Profile first. A site that needs rebuilding should be scoped as a project, not squeezed into a monthly retainer. Start with the foundation, the questions your buyers ask and the path from a search to a WhatsApp message or call.

Vyntra's AI SEO service uses six specialist agents for the repeated monitoring and a person for every decision that touches your live site. The RM399 entry package is a defined scope for one website, not a promise of traffic or unlimited output. If you are unsure where to begin, a free SEO audit will tell you the top priorities for your site.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Will AI replace SEO?

AI changes how some SEO work is done, especially monitoring, analysis and drafting. It does not remove the need for useful information, technical access, business judgement and someone accountable for what goes live.

Is AI-written content automatically bad for SEO?

No. What matters is whether the content is accurate, original, useful and written for the reader. Content produced at scale mainly to manipulate rankings is a problem whether a person or a model wrote it.

Does AI SEO work for Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese searches?

Yes, AI is useful for grouping multilingual queries and drafting in several languages. A fluent person should still review the final wording, because tone and terms differ between audiences.

How is AI SEO priced in Malaysia?

Quotes vary widely with scope. Vyntra publishes its price: managed AI SEO for one website from RM399 a month. See the SEO pricing guide for how to compare quotes.
